Cardiac hearty stuff behind the cut…
Well, the good news is, that valve is plugging away. Yay. The bad news is, his right lower ventricle is really big again, compared to the size of it in 2007, meaning the valve isn’t plugging as well as it should be. We are scheduling an MRI before the end of the year (hopefully around Thanksgiving) and they will test to see if he’s a candidate for the lesser invasive valve replacement. (Catheter either through the groin on neck.) They are hearing a murmur in the top right hand side of his heart. Very faint.
The doctor told him to lose 20 pounds, told me to get my blood sugar under control (wha?)
We got in VERY late last night and was up REALLY early this morning and dealt with early morning rush hour (hell) traffic around Emory (Super Hell) and then afternoon traffic and construction coming home (Hell hath no fury.) I’m in no mental place to pack up and head home, so my behind is planted here. I think I’ll go take a nap.
Here. Have some Richard.

Sounds like good news sort of… do you have to pay for the MRI? 😳
I’m sure you made the right decision to stay put. These events take such a toll, stress wise, and you don’t want to be driving under those conditions. Chill as much as you can. Hugs 😘

He has disability insurance, so it’s taken care of. Contrary to popular belief in Europe, the disabled and the poor here in the US do have health care options. He has better health care than the health care I pay out the nose for! LOL!
I took a 3 hour nap. I feel much better. We’ll head home tomorrow.

I suppose considering the age of the valve, that’s pretty good news. Looks like the doc is thinking it doesn’t need urgent attention if the MRI is November, so that’s good.
Have a safe trip home!

We’re hoping this will ALL be done within 6 months. He’s not showing any symptoms of the valve failing, so that’s good news. But that enlarged ventricle is the other big symptom. It needs to be done and will be as soon as thy decide if he’s a candidate for the less evasive procedure or not. If he can have it done via cath, he’ll be back to all systems normal really fast. If they have to do it as open heart, he’ll be down 6 to 8 weeks.

Hopefully he’ll be a candidate for the cath procedure.

I hope so too. He’s already nervous because they will to an intravenous dye and he’s needle phobic.

Good to hear that things are well enough for M not to need any urgent surgery. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it can be done the less invasive way.

I hope so to.

What do you mean….wha????
Spankings will now ensue.

Send Guy and I’ll take mine gladly!

If I could send Guy……you’d have to wait till I was finished. Might be pointless.

Guy has plenty of spank in him!

Yeah….wait your turn!

Glad no urgent action is needed and that there’s a plan for making things better in the not too distant future. It must be nerve-wrecking to have to deal with this. Sending positive thoughts your way.

Glad they can at least consider the easier version of the surgery, keeping all fingers crossed for it, would make such a difference for recovery! Hope you had a safe journey home and that you’ll hear back from them soon! And do take care of yourself too 🙂
