Ssssshit ssssssshit ssssssssshit! No sweet T

I am heartbroken.

Last night, Spawn and I went to the Freedom Rings Celebration. The county owns a big piece of undeveloped property within a mile of us and several times a year, uses it for County Fairs, Spring Festivals, Autumn Festivals, Family functions, Amusement purposes and 4th of July Celebrations. Parking is free and it’s a fun time for all. The firework show – while short (15 minutes) was really nice. Spawn and I got there just before sunset, got ourselves great parking and a great place to set up. One of the radio stations was there and they had erected a dance floor for the kids.

My kindles were charged and with me as we had a 2 hour wait, (yes, 2. An ancient 5 button that I read the most on and a Fire I’ve been unhappy with for a while. I have 4 books on it now that I AM reading (series) and I was thinking after I deal with the dental issue this year, I might indulge and purchase another kindle for my birthday. I’ve been pricing them and as much as I hate it, I’ll probably buy another fire – believe it or not they are MUCH cheaper!!! Go figure!

As I went to bed last night, I couldn’t find the Fire. I figured it was in the car, but this morning, I went to look and it wasn’t. I remembered the last place I saw it was in my car door. I had it out while we waited 2 hours for the show to start. As we pulled out, I discovered my back door was opened, so I got out to shut it. I guessed it was in the field.

SO I drove back to the field and found my kindle in the grass. It had been run over at least once, probably me, and the face is pretty cracked. But it still works and I’ve got it plugged up now to see if it will charge. I hope so. I’m not really in a place to replace it. I’d rather have a paperwhite or even a refurbished 5 button. I don’t think they even make them anymore. I’d like to figure out how I can reregister my old 5 button. I like it better.

*cries*

I’m thinking this spot in my mouth is going to be sore for a little while. I’m going to try tylenol and see if that helps. Usually Tylenol is useless after I’ve been taking Tylenol with codeine. The 2 teeth they filed down to anchor the bridge don’t bother me anymore – the extraction does. Meh.

T – what was the first thing you ever contributed to a fandom?

Fanfiction. Are we surprised? I’ve been involved in the LOTR fandom since 2002 – after the first LOTR movie came out. I admit, I was smitten with an elf – and NOT Legolas! I had just kicked out The Sponge (who did more financial damage to me than my divorce) and my sister took me to see it at the dollar theater in July. I went in hating men and came out wanting THAT man. Either or, I did a huge internet search, and discovered FANFICTION!

Most of it written by teenaged girls who had never been kissed, much less laid and wrote in long-winded run on sentences in net speak with no punctuation –

Yes. This was written and posted on a group board and you wouldn’t believe how many – MOAR MOAR! THIS IS GR8! responses there were! It was unreal!

So after trying to stomach my way through that stuff, I realized that my daydreams are better put together than this drivel and I started writing what became a 175k word epic that I put down in under 10 months.

I discovered that people either LOVED it or HATED it! There were entire threads on flameboards dedicated to it. Folks, did you know because I write such dreadful fic, that I’m obviously a dreadful mother? What shocked me most was the person who went after me the hardest – in fact started most of the threads – was a fellow forum member who felt her fic didn’t get the well-deserved attention it warranted because of mine.

And WHY did they hate it so? I hadn’t read the books when I wrote it. I stomped on their precious canon. I think several people stated that even Tolkien stepped on his own canon – and didn’t follow LACE (Laws and Custom of Elves) so what’s the big deal?

Oh and I dropped a modern day woman into Middle Earth. Obviously, that was the most heinous crime of all.

I have learned a lot since that first fic. A lot. No, I won’t tell you the name, or the pen I was using when I wrote it. If you REALLY want to know, ping me privately, it’s still up in a few places.

I’m going to find some Tylenol. That hole in my head is uncomfortable. And my Kindle Fire is charging. It’s just going to have to hang on for a while.

Mouth doesn’t hurt so much this morning. I think every time I pass something that reflects, I grin.

The next question on the RA survey is What Actor(ess) would you like to see Richard work with next?

You know, the funny part of me would like to see Guy and Loki do a version of Pinky and the Brain. But really, I’d like to see Richard and Benedict Cumberbatch pair up with something – Some wild, comedy adventure. Really.

So I go to the dentist today, thinking I’m getting a deep cleaning and instead, we started on my main dental work.

Good news is, they were able to salvage one of my front teeth so the bridge cost half as much. Still – the one tooth they extracted and the 2 teeth they’re using for bridge anchors… ouch. Really. I’ve taken massive pain killers and the whole front of my face hurts.

It’s not going to be a good night.  😦

I was bad. The deals were too good and I NEEDED the bras (2) and I needed a dress (I ended up with 3) and they are all a size down because the cute things I got in the last year now look like sacks on me, but I have a choice of 3 dresses for this wedding and yes, I can wear them to work and I’m done done done.

Yeah, yeah, you’ve heard that before.

I have thoroughly pissed off Spawn. I’m sorry I did. I made a rather crass and rude and judgmental comment about a friend of his and it upset him. Sometimes, I forget he’s 30 and feels he’s not reached some of the goals he’s set for himself. I’ve apologized profusely, and it says it’s okay, but… I feel pretty horrible.

I need to write.

Well, I wasn’t fond of Margaret in North and South. I found her to be whiney, demanding and just… John could do better.

Thorin didn’t have anyone…

Gary didn’t have anyone (Team Gary – Deidre!) And the weather girl – those two had NO chemistry whatsoever and thank you the film didn’t try to make a love connection there.

Guy and… I hated Marian. She and Blobbin deserve each other and Meg… Part of me would like to see that explored a little bit, but I think Meg would have driven Guy nuts sooner than later. Then again – I’m Team Guy-Genevieve.

So the big RA Q today is…

I’m screwed. I’ve been almost 3 weeks without shopping. I am in need of one to 2 bras (unfortunately, I need a plain beige bra or a white bra, or both) and I’m in need of a dress for my brother’s upcoming nuptials in 3 months. Those dratted catalogs I’ve been tossing without looking at came in today and I thought – bra sale, clearance, maybe I can find a dress and 1 to 2 bras….

I’m NOW looking at a sizeable wish list. That crochet top I lusted over but decided against because it was 60.00 is now 24.99. IF they have it in my size.

Screwed.  For real. And I’m thinking – yeah, I could wait another month, but I’ve learned that my size is the first to go.

Q – 3rd season of BS or not.

BS. That says a lot. You know, I would never had watched the 1st episode of the first season, had RA NOT been in it. It wouldn’t have been a blip on my radar. Really. It’s not my genre, my style, my cup of tea. I knew who Thomas Shaw was by episode 2 and the whole alt-right storyline during season 2 left me cold. I wasn’t fond of the Trevor Price persona and I didn’t like the haircut! I DID like the commando in the sweat pants and the tight jeans. Hmmm mmm. And I’m definitely shipping Daniel and Esther.  What do we call this? KrugMil? EsDan? DanEs?

If Richard is in it, I’ll watch it. I’ll do what I did the last 2 seasons. Save and burn the entire season and then binge watch it in December or January.

After 10 days of reasonable (under 130) blood sugar and a few blood sugar crashes, I clocked in this morning at 220. Who would think a turkey bacon ranch sandwich with fries for lunch will do such damage?

Probably also the fact I’ve been out of one of my meds for 2 days… and not enough water.

I am being inundated with the sales ads for various online places. I mean BIG sales. Sadly, the 3 dresses I kind of looked at to wear at my brother’s wedding in October were either out of my size OR out of the color I wanted. Otherwise, the only thing I really need are 2 bras, although I could make do with one…. nah. Two. Two bras and they can wait a month or two. The offers are outrageous, but they are also trying to empty the warehouse for the fall stuff that is probably coming in in the next couple of weeks. So I’ll wait. Give me a chance to pay the card down more.

O RA, what you do to me!

My body is revolting on me. Notice, I didn’t say it revolts me (all of my beautiful new clothes are definitely LOOSE, so nyah!) but today I’m sore and just feeling draggy.

I’ve been power walking 5 to 6 days a week since I returned from my mom’s. So about a month. I typically pound out 2.5 to 3 miles in around an hour. I’m having to get out earlier and earlier… well… because…

It’s horrid hot. Half of the roads I pound have no shade. It’s bad. For the past week, the heat index has been OVER 110! Before noon!!!

In addition to my walk, yesterday, I helped a friend move. She’s been in a similar situation I was in: her divorce was fresher, just as ugly. Instead of moving home, as she had a job, she put the vast majority of her stuff in storage and found a roommate – who turned into the roomie from hell. So for the first time in a few years, she moved into a place of her own with HER furniture, HER dishes, HER things. There was such joy in that move. We had to take doors off the abode in order to get her couch in and as she had no garage, everything went into the house. Once the men had the furniture in and set in place, the women (and I’m not being sexist, we just do this better) began the arduous task of washing dishes, setting up the kitchen. My son put up utility shelves and put things on it that she wanted. She started crying at one point. Look at my made up bed! I know the feeling.

There is still some picture hanging and a room full of boxes left to unpack, but it’s all in the house, the kitchen is done…

As we were leaving, Spawn looks at me and says – Mom. She’ll have her house DONE by the end of the week and everything will have its place and every picture will be hung. We’re still unpacking our garage and it’s been almost 3 years!

Yesterday afternoon, I went into the garage and took a good long look. Over there is Christmas. 2 trees, 3 tubs, and 5 boxes. And behind that is Halloween and Easter. Not that much. Spawn is down to 5 boxes. I’m down to 3 boxes and 3 garbage bags. Clothes. They will be washed and sent to the Church House Clothing. I have 2 boxes left for the kitchen. 1 box left for the bathroom.

And then the music, books and junk. Can I be honest? I’m ready to just haul out the shredder and shred and if it CAN’T be shredded, send it somewhere. Like the trash. I’m that done. If I can get the school music to school, it would a WHOLE lot emptier, but I have to sneak it in a tote bag at a time because of my custodial staff – which it isn’t their business anyway! I got all the boxes unloaded before school was out, but I have a load and a half here. I brought it home because we were told the movers weren’t moving it. And then after bringing 6 carloads home, I was told by the movers – oh yeah, we will. Just box it and label it.

The custodian was horrified. I was a happy camper. I moved more boxes than any other teacher – any other DEPARTMENT or Grade Level.

So today, I think I’ll put together the other bookcase and go from there. I do have several boxes of books left.

Weird find of the day: I found flannel PJs – top and shorts. yes. Flannel pj shorts. Why?

Happy Guy Day!

And how has your day been?

I have been 2 weeks without buying anything… for me. I bought Spawn some shirts. That boy’s closet makes me cry and he says NOTHING. So I’m doing something about it.

My backorders are coming in. All that’s left now is a belt and a pair of boots – I”m hoping the belt sort of saves me some money for a while. The clothes I bought spring of last year are big this year – specifically the maxi dresses I love. If I were going home again this summer – or thought about it when I went home when school was out – I would have taken them for mom to take up in the shoulder. But, neither happened, so I’m hoping a belt will do the trick.

My other backorder I’m not in a hurry for.

Yes. Those. Without the heel. They were on sale for under 40.00 so don’t judge me! They should be in next month. Fall stuff should start showing up on the sites in a week or two. They had a huge blow-out sale to clear out their warehouse, finishing up today and I simply ignored it. Holiday and winter stuff will show up in September and my brother is getting married in October. Hopefully, I’ll be down yet ANOTHER dress size and at least my front teeth should be fixed.

Are you ready for some Sir Guy? I sure am! These were freshly lifted today!

M&N’s – Melts in your mouth, not in your hands!

Stepped outside for my morning walk and it was already so hot and humid, I turned around and stepped right back in. Summer has arrived in hellish fashion in Georgia and I’m thinking it’s going to be as  bad as it was 2 years ago. Will NOT be liking that electric bill, no shit.

Spawn and I did laundry a few days ago. Normally, in the summer, we go at night because it’s cooler, but we went during the day on Tuesday – totally forgot about our silly 2 for Tuesday movie (there is a movie theater in the next little town that shows $2 movies on Tuesday. Granted, they are kids movies and the place is packed out with the day cares, so you hear lots of skittles and m&ms rolling down the aisle during the movie, but they are fun and it gets us into someone else’s air conditioning for a while. Either way, on our way home, we took a detour. There is a lot of space in our little town that we’ve not seen, and sometimes, we take a short drive to see what’s around.

I found something that made me want, made me dream,

It had a For Sale sign out front and I’m rather… really? So I looked it up. Thing is a STEAL for $44,000. It’s longer than it is wide and I figure 5 or 6 bedrooms… a music room, a library. It is 3150 square feet, with 3 HUGEASS bedrooms… and the need of at least 200K renovation and repair work.

I don’t have 44 thousand, much less 200 thousand to restore it and it was off the market within 36 hours after I saw it. Spawn is relieved and I’ll bet the damn thing is haunted.

But still…
