FYI – Sad News From Richard

Oh no. My deepest condolences, sympathy, and heart felt prayers go out to Richard, his father, and his brother’s family.

This post comes with my heartfelt sympathies for the Armitages’ loss. Without personally knowing Mrs A, I think we can nevertheless say that she must have been a lovely, formidable woman – on the basis of how the product of her education and influence conducts himself. Respectful, polite, willing to give his best at all times, sensitive, empathic. May she rest in peace.

Please do follow the link in Richard’s tweet where he has not only written a wonderful tribute to his mum, but where he is also fundraising for the hospice that took care of Mrs Armitage in her last weeks…

So I’m in a quandary

My sister is in need of some clothes. She’s picky however, and would rather wear the same 3 tops over and over and over than wear 20 tops she doesn’t feel is her style. She showed me something she likes that I am in a place to get her. I’m not shopping for me. I’m shopping for her. Of course, I’d pay for it because I’m in better shape financially than she is in.

I don’t think this would count as shopping, as I’m not buying for me.

Mancandy Monday and other things

Today in the US, we are honoring our fallen heros – those who gave their all. I had several great uncles who served during WW2. One brought home a British War Bride and they were devoted to each other. He called her ‘Limey’, which some might consider an insult, but she called him ‘Fuzzy’, so I guess they were even. 2 served in the Pacific. They were amazing men and I still think the world of them.

I damn near had a heart attack this morning. I was checking Twitter, because I had an email that said – CHECK YER NOTIFICATIONS DAMMIT! So I did and saw this –

Thursday! It’s the new Friday!

okay, it isn’t, it just FEELS like it to me!

My checklist is pretty much complete – just need my department chair to return from lunch and sign off that my room is clean and turn in my keys and I’m free as a bird until the last day of July! I hope to be out of here in 90 minutes!

If you don’t keep up with me at Richard’s Bold and Beautiful – my A1C is beyond anything that can be called normal. Over 12. The summer will begin with me hoofing it around the neighborhood and me trying to give up cokes. They’ve changed my meds and it was made clear to me that the next time, it will involve needles. I have until July 30th to bring it down.

I already have a headache. Meh.

It’s almost here!!!!

Summer vacay, that is!!! I have my checklist and it’s almost done – just sweep the floor, finish clearing my desk and then run the gamut getting everything signed. Tomorrow, Spawn and I will rest on our laurels, play on our laptops, and slide out and go to Mama’s!!!! Going to visit family, see my knitting friends, and then come home and sit in a dentist’s chair and be unhappy. Have a book or two to put on my MP3 to listen to. Hopefully that will help the pain.

I have books to read, a garage to clean out (STILL) and writing to do. Carpets to shampoo, some local gadflying about, THE BEACH! We did not do the beach last year and this year will be hotter. We have a few baseball games to attend. I’m looking forward to the down time. I have been 17 days without buying clothes. Really. I have catalogs and I’ve NOT opened them!

The Wedding – Yes I did!

So, for those who didn’t hear, I got up at 5 AM yesterday to watch The Wedding! Yes I did. I love the pageantry and I’m nosy as all get out. Yesterday, I watched a LOT of things I thought I would NEVER see in the British monarchy…

Yes I DO have windows!

You can see my messy workspace. That’s going to be redone as well! Somehow I have to make this room more ‘warm and inviting’ – something that is difficult as I really have no where to hang posters because the walls are surrounded with sound absorbers.  The ceilings are VERY high (15 feet)  so hanging stuff from them is impossible as well.

Any suggestions???

I was also asked if they could borrow a few chairs for graduation… I said no problem…

They have come and gotten that last stack.

The television and brown piano are supposed to be gone over the summer.

I so badly need this summer break. Sooooo badly!!!!

One more day left, 11 days NO clothes buying and I managed to get through yesterday! YAY! GO me.

Oh. What was yesterday??? Yesterday was my 31st wedding anniversary and 30th anniversary of filing for divorce.

We are in our THIRD STRAIGHT DAY OF RAIN! Yes. Rain.

My ‘garden’ is taking shape. I planted it a week ago and my gladiolas (in the tire – makes a great redneck planter) are all ready up and moving. I’ve planted wild summer flowers and dwarf zinnias. I should plant sunflowers, but I”m not sure where.

 

Hopefully everything else will come up as well. I had blackberries up by the bush, but something has eaten them. And no, the something wasn’t me or Spawn.

I have morning glories and moonflower to plant, but I’m not sure WHERE to plant them. I’ll probably plant them around the mailbox when school is out. I have middle schoolers who stand IN the square around my mailbox because … I dunno. They’d prefer to stand in my driveway, but I take issue not being able to get out of my driveway. They’re out next week!

I’m trying to decide if I want to get up at ungodlyhour o’clock on Saturday to watch the wedding.

Right now, they have odd makers taking bets that the wedding WON”T go off at all. All the Dah-rhama. I mean, what did you expect?

Americans!

Right now, I’m trying to talk myself OUT of getting a coke. My 3rd grade – all 5 of them – were quiet. I won’t have KK, I won’t have 5th grade, I’m being told I won’t see 4th grade, no 1st… so the only class I have to worry about is 2nd and this 2nd grade is hell on wheels.

So we’ll see….

And how are we all.

We are now at 3 days and counting down and 9 days of NO CLOTHES SHOPPING.

Really, this is a necessary. It is my goal to NOT BUY ANY CLOTHES until August. My brother is getting married in October and I’m hoping to be down another dress size.  I can do it if I could just lay off the cokes.

(I only consumed 2 all day yesterday. As of late, I’ve been downing 3 to 5 AT SCHOOL! So let’s not go there.)

I’ve been getting catalogs from this place and they have some very nice things for a woman with curves but even their woman with curves portions have models that look like this:

Yes, THIS is being sold in the Woman With Curves section. Really? Photoshop much???? I’m very intimidated!!!

And at some point, I’m going to poke fun at Best Dressed. I’m rather… are you KIDDING me??? 

Sadly, it looks as if our first field day in forever will be cancelled. The gym is taken for promotion and graduation ceremonies and we have THIS for the next 10 days!

And sadly, while yes, it will be mostly sunny on the 24th, it will be cloudy on the 25th and then it will rain more. I plan on being in The Interior by then. Such is life.

I have a lot planned for the summer – meaning most of it won’t get done. I DO want to finish clearing out my garage. I don’t see us moving anytime soon, but the thought of a 28 foot truck, a 12 foot truck and numerous car loads… never again. I’m cleaning out my closets. I’ll either have a garage sale come August OR I’m sending it to a church charity shop. I’d rather give my gently used clothes to someone who needs them then to Goodwill who will sell them for their own pockets.

I had a political rant. I deleted it before I posted it. You’re welcome.  Really though, I have need to find a place where I can rail away and not worry about offending people.

Okay, that’s not true. It’s not that I worry about offending anyone, I do it quite often, on a daily basis most times, but I do like to keep my friends. I think we all know which way I lean. These days, I’m snarling about pretty much everything.  So please forgive me. I’m out of water, I want a coke and I’m stressed to the max.
