Happy Guy Day and how are we all?

The Death March in my small circle continues. My Great Uncle was promoted to Glory this afternoon after a long illness. He is now with his beautiful bride of many years as well as with family, including his parents – my Great Grand Parents, who I remember well and fondly, as well as 5 siblings who went on before. So, we didn’t lose him; we know exactly where he is. But we still grieve. He was a lovely man, a loving husband and father and a devoted minister to several flocks. He will be sorely missed.

In addition, one of my mom’s younger brothers is in a coma and has been for some days. He’s not expected to last much longer. Please keep my mom in your prayers. Between her two BFFs in the last 2 weeks, our Great Uncle – who she loved as blood – and now her brother, she’s pretty wore out.

Enough sadness.

Sir Guy promised to be nice to the little kiddies and hand out Halloween Candy. Apparently, he thinks snarling is smiling and as a result, we only had 4 brave souls.

Of course, the rain at sunset probably had a lot to do with the lack of treaters as well. Oh well. I’m going to do the smart thing and take the basket of treats to school and leave them in the office. Pray they are all gone by the end of the day. I don’t need it. I WANT it, but I don’t need it.

Zee was VERY productive in the reading department. As some might know, I purchased a new kindle a month ago and I’m now able to cart books around as I should. YAY! But I find myself in a bit of a predicament. Actually not really. Just a serious realization.

See, July, August and September were NOT stellar reading months. There was that little problem with THE MOVE FROM HELL and my kindle fire refusing to download anything. My old handheld won’t download anything  from the internet, so I was kind of stuck with reading from my laptop. I have no clue how I managed before Spawn bought me a kindle, but it is what it is. There ya go how do you do?

So either or, I filled in some early spots this month and I’m looking at the last gameboard I’d downloaded.

I’m looking at this as recently as TWO days ago and thinking… you know, if I hunker down like a hairy dawg, I might be able to finish this. So I go to my master list to download the rest of everything and discover I have some entrees that aren’t on this game board. So I went BACK to the site where I downloaded the gameboard and challenge to begin with and found THIS…

14 books in 2 months, I can deal with. 24, not so much.

I”m not going to complete this challenge. Yes I know some things came down over the summer I had not factored in. It was not my intention to move this summer, but I did. And if that means I didn’t read like I should, then I didn’t read like I should. My blood pressure is down, I’m happier, for the most part. I have a robot vacuum that will turn on at 11 PM tonight and vacuum for 2 hours tonight and she – Rosie – is quiet about it. Life is good.

But I’m not going to complete this challenge. But I’m going to give what I can and I’m proud I got as much done as I did.

In case you didn’t hear or figure it out, Flat Richie arrived at my home yesterday.

He went to school with me today – I asked Guy if he wanted to go and he growled at me, so I took that as a no. As you can see, Richie pilfered through chocolates that were gifted to me. Said he was watching out for my blood sugar. How does HE know to watch out for my blood sugar??? We are looking forward to and planning some serious adventures! One is going to Savannah this weekend. Maybe Guy will change his mind.

Flat Richie will be with me for a little while. Sorry. I have some very expensive car repairs coming up and I’m going to be financially tight for a while. I’ll take lots of pictures!

Also, we have a new member of our family. Meet Rosie the Robovac

She was a housewarming gift from a friend. Right now, she’s charging up and tomorrow, Spawn will program her to run the house twice a week. This little lady is supposed to be an expert at pet hair, which seems to accumulate all over the hall and in the corners. There’s also a dry mopping attachment. SCORE!!!! So we have THIS to look forward to!

 

Last night, my mom lost the 2nd of her BFFs in 2 weeks. Heart attack. Mom was really upset. My son was inconsolable for about 15 minutes. She was Aunt Ginger to him. She was an Italian New Yorker and cooked like no one’s business. When mom was fussing at Spawn about putting alcohol (wine) in the sauces in the dishes he prepares, she told her – no, he’s doing it right! Red wine thickens the sauce. White wine deglazes the pot. And so after that, it was okay. Go figure.

My kids are nuts this week. Halloween, field trips to the pumpkin patch, Friday will be heckers. I have a young man whose mother will hear from me if he continues his mouthscapades, (I’m not complaining. I have 3 to 5 kids who are challenging, unlike the 500 challenges I had last year. And unlike last year, I have backup, both admin and teacher when one gets out of control.)

I”m going to take a shower, see if I can finish one last book for this month and probably call it a night.

ManCandy Monday!

Good morning and how are we all?

I have been UP since a little after 5 AM. That’s a tad bit early for me, however, I was in bed before 10 and slept the entire night. I will not complain about 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

I spent the majority of yesterday deleting non-essential pictures from this blog. Clothing and book covers from previous reading challenges. Over 400 pictures and you know how much my load percentage came down??? 3%. That’s it. 3%! I’m trying to scroll back to the very earliest pictures they made us load in the archive. I refuse to purchase blog space. I have credit cards to pay off and a tie bar and struts to buy. Bleh! Hopefully, now that I”m down into the 70-ish% range, my archive won’t lock up like it has been. I figure vacay pics are next and then other things. Are there clothing pics in 2017??? I’ll find out, I guess. I think so. 2018 was really bad.

Today is Monday – duh! It is my beautiful day with kids. All my best classes! Yay!

It doesn’t have the same ring, does it? Sounds like something the Swedish Chef would say.

Good morning and how are we all? (Never mind when I finish this, it will be afternoon here!)  Despite utter exhaustion, sleep did not come well for me. Well, it came well, but whereas my superpower is sleeping, my arch nemesis is peeing all night. That’s not a good sign and sure enough, my blood sugar was (beyond) slightly elevated this morning. So I’m drinking a lot of water today. Means I”ll be peeing more. It’s a never-ending pee-festival. Gross.

I know – damn! That’s TMI!

Heads up

Guy Day will be late tomorrow night. Might even be Saturday. I’ve put in a 13 hour day today, I’m exhausted and I”m going to use one of my ‘Leave Early’ passes tomorrow. Between being sick and draggy all week, the 12 hour day last Friday and working late last night and then the 13 hour day today – I didn’t get home until almost 10 PM and I’m dragging.

So Guy Day will happen when it does. Thanks for understanding.

Something Monday

Morning and how are we? I hope all of you had a great weekend.  I am home today. I got about halfway to work and ended up on the side of the road in a little picnic area, spewing over the railway and into the marsh. Thankfully, while I was spewing, the county opened the bathrooms and I was able to use those facilities for other purposes. I’m hoping this is a 24 hour or less bug and I can return to work tomorrow. I feel wretched! Right now, I’m in jeans and a long sleeve tee, looking out into my yard that I need to have someone come and mow before winter. 

We had a tropical depression come through on Saturday – Tropical Storm Nestor. No wind, but a lot of rain from moderately heavy to drizzle for the better part of 12 hours. Yesterday began overcast and ended sunny and cool. Well, 72 is cool after the HELL temps of the summer and up until 10 days ago. We will have a few days that reach 80 and 81 this week, but otherwise, 70’s and lows in the 60’s. I’m wishing I had screen doors so I could open the doors and turn off the air.

I spent most of the weekend, downloading books and fanfiction out of the Yahoo Groups. I”m rather… teary… at their demise, even though for the most part the function of Yahoo Groups has been dead for the better part of a decade. It was and still is the best forum for fandom – a website where people could talk, load documentation, fanfic, artwork, pictures, hold polls and keep records. It would be one thing if Yahoo said – we’re closing it to new members. YOu can’t load stuff anymore. It’s just going to be an email list. 

But no, they are wiping out everything online. The mailing list will continue, but everything else will be gone. The message history will be gone as well. Which is upsetting as I used the group function as a type of cloud storage. In fact, I have quite a FEW personal yahoo groups I used for that particular purpose. So I”m cleaning them out and wondering where else am I going to store stuff. I think me burning a shitload of CDs is about to commence.

And I mean a shitload. Not a reference to my stomach acrobatics of this morning.

Yes, she curled up in Spawn’s bed, under the covers and gave birth to 5 wet rats. Fat boy is in the mess somewhere.

I have a few pictures that don’t exist anywhere else but there and trying to download… well, right now, I have 2 laptops up and running.

Either way, I’m finding myself in the middle of 2 groups: One that is bemoaning the loss of all this HISTORY and a group whose attitude is – who cares? People are backing up groups, looking at ProBoard, looking at Tumblr, Facebook, WordPress, Livejournal, I have a Dreamcast that I put my fanwork on. Right now, I’m too busy preserving what I can. There was a period of several years when I couldn’t afford books, there was no such thing as ebooks and so all I read was fanfiction and some of it was QUITE good. Really. Quite VERY Good! And of course, some of it was horrid. I mean abysmal! And we’ll leave it at that. I, of course, lean towards the bemoaning. Once upon a time, I belonged to 144 groups. That’s down now to under 50 but that’s still a lot of stuff to go through. I’m mostly going after the fanart and the fanfiction. I found a personal group I had forgotten about and I had loaded books I’d forgotten about and lost in a computer crash oh… 9 years ago! So it’s nice to find these books and see if more were written in the series. That might be my challenge next year – to read the books downloaded that I thought I’d lost.

I have done no shopping in 21 days. Go me. Due to reasons (car) I’m working to do no shopping until after New Years. Maybe even after Valentines Day. They say we’re going to have a warmer than normal winter. I hope not. Last winter was quite mild and we’ve had the Love Bug and mosquito apocalypse the last few weeks. Thursday’s high is supposed to be 71, so I’m looking forward to wearing this –

Either way, I have plenty of clothes and don’t need a thing. So i’ll wait until what’s left goes on clearance. There really isn’t anything I really want.

Although my favorite pair of beige, closed toed shoes are giving up the ghost.  I wore a pair of flat uber pointy toed type Mary Jane shoes on Friday and one of my students said – those are SO cute, but they are wicked!

Last week I joked about all the beefcake we look at! The big thing now is Dad Bods. Many women find them sexy. Others don’t like anything that isn’t toned, buffed and tan! women are attacking other women because of bulges, love handles… a woman on a television news station received a TON of hate on her Instragram or Facebook from another woman because the viewer thought she needed to wear a girdle. Really? REALLY? I thought we were supposed to support each other!!!

Oh yeah, that’s right, only if we’re the right body shape and the correct political affiliation.

But not here. We’re good, right??? Right here, in this spot, all religious beliefs or lack thereof are accepted and all body types are body types and if you’re good with it, we’re good with it. We all have a shape and round is a shape! Am I right or am I right?

Now I”m good with the Dad Bod. For those of you wondering, a DadBod is typically that body men get once they become dads and are no long living in the gym, several hours a day, 5 days a week!

That’s scary.

Yeah. Pizza, sodas, beer, throwing dinner together, work, family, sometimes the only exercise you get is mowing the yard. But our men are still gorgeous. Even this one!
