As I stated

The amount of snow and ice has been overwhelming.

My bravest, strong male in the household informed me not to worry about digging out! He would do it with great pleasure!

He is my hero! I am currently indoors, fixing hot chocolate (because he loves chocolate) with little marshmallow bits to warm up his bits!!!!

He’s working up such a sweat.

It hath poured ice from the mountain!

Glacial winds and blinding snow! We battened down the hatches because the Weather Channel and National Weather Society and every weather man on the eastern seaboard said our bahooties were going to be socked in and frozen.

My father went with my mother this time to stock up on food. There were no beans brought into this house, because we have a hugeass tupperware of pintos already, but they did bring back a shitload of Chips Ahoy, much to my consternation.

My parents obviously hate me.

(So far, the first bag has been completely scarfed and I only had 3.)

We were told noon yesterday. Be home and socked in by noon. We were.

The snow began in earnest at 4:02. Big white fluffy balls, which soon turned to snow and ice and then sleet and then snow with ice and then big white fluffy balls…

I woke up to the rare beauty of snow this morning. I, of course, went out and took pictures.

This is our front yard. I’m overwhelmed by the sheer amount of snow.

Isn’t it amazing? Who would think Georgia would get THIS much snow??? We’ll be weeks digging out.

Some of you might have noticed we seem to be ‘down’ a few trees. They are building a Bojangles next to us and they’ve staked out 5 more plots for similar ventures. I do believe they sold the lumber to a toothpick factory. Joy. I weep for the decreasing habitat of our local deer and coyotes.

Here we go again…

So on Friday, we were told that massive amounts of snow and ice were coming in that evening and school let out (on time) but rushing to get everyone home safe and sound…

and nada. No snow. No Ice.

And the kiddies were all upset.

Tonight on the weather they say… you remember this time last year when the west side of Atlanta got one inch of snow and everyone went batshit?

We got more than an inch….

Either way, they’re telling us to batten down the hatches because the east side is getting 3 inches tomorrow and Wednesday.

Yawn.

At least my car has heat!

And how was everyone’s weekend?

Yesterday morning’s blood sugar – 97. Saturday’s was 100.

This is worrisome. I’m living with a headache and I’ve had a few blood sugar melt downs. Had a BAD one Saturday afternoon at the grocery! Spawn grabbed a coke. Between the coke and the lasagne for dinner, my sugar should have been waaaaaaaaaaaaaay up, but it wasn’t.

A friend at church is a cardiac care nurse at one of the bigger hospitals here in Atlanta. She said my body has been jerked from one extreme to the other and it will balance out. Body just hasn’t been ‘normal’ in a while and it’s fighting.

I’ll be honest and say it’s the new meds. I also think the new meds are giving me a constant low-grade headache. 😦

It has a heater… and A/C (You have NO idea how much that is welcome right now!) And a working CD and Tape Deck!

And a SUNROOF!!!!

Have I mentioned I LOVE Toyotas? That I have grieved the loss of my Camry??? That I never thought I would own a sweet ride again???

(The former owner is a relative who take meticulous care of his vehicles!)

Stevie Ray and I go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back… my ex husband introduced me to his music. It’s one of those few, happy memories I cling to.

Ice Ice Baby 2015 part Deux!

Ice came down out of the trees by the bucket-loads today. And did not melt.

That’s NOT glass. It’s ice and it got worse. At times, it sounded like trees were falling.  And it’s not small chunks either.

I think we reached 35 degrees today. Not much better. We’re almost 30 degrees below normal for February. brrrrrrrrrrrrr.

We even had snow flurries. It didn’t stick, but man, is it flipping frigid freaking cold!

Our yard looks like a war zone!

That’s not shrubbery. That’s branches from the top of the maple tree.

Tonight’s low – between 5 and 5 below. Tomorrow’s high will be 27. Schools are closed because it’s too dang cold!

In other news, my doctor read me the riot act. I have until April 22nd to lose SOME weight (I have gained back what I lost last summer) and keep it off and bring down my A1C and sugar average. I say the A1C IS down – from 10.6 to 9.3 and my average blood sugar has been below 200. But she wants more. It’s that or go on insulin. They’re worried about my kidneys. I’m being put on blood pressure meds – my BP isn’t horrible, BUT I have all the other symptoms of hyper tension as well as an addition blood sugar meds (I’m on Jenumet and going on glimeperide and crestor for my cholesterol and tri-glycerides. I’m adding Lipoic Acid to my vitamin regimen. Cokes, anything white – rice, pasta, potatoes, bread – are out of my diet. No more chocolate, pizza, anything fried, processed meat – meaning hot dogs, fast food…

I’m getting ready to bring cranky to a whole, new level. You say you’re moody, Mr. Armitage? I got your moody right here!!!

I’ve been told to walk regardless unless the weather is awful and then I’m supposed to find the nearest mall and just walk. which I’m all up for doing, except the transmission on my car went. Which ticks me off as I just sank over 500.00 into new motor mounts and having the transmission serviced not a week before. Getting a new transmission is out of the question, getting a used one is out of the question – no guarantee it will last 3 days – so mechanic is looking around for having it rebuilt.

Personally, I’d like to leave the thing somewhere thuggy and let them have at, but according to my insurance policy, I’m not covered for that either.

Sigh.

Oh and the Crucible isn’t playing in theaters in the US. Not that I could get to a theater if I wanted to.

The only thing I have to look forward in my life is my daily Gummy Vitamin. My existence if futile.

Meh.

Ice Ice baby!

so we had ice last night. It started icing in the afternoon and I must say, I was very proud of my city FINALLY getting it right.

We all went home and closed down.

I must say, I find a strange beauty in ice. And it was right gorgeous around my house.

At 7:30, we lost power. It was out for 90 minutes. Towards the end of the power outage, we heard a nasty crack and several thuds. The house shook. It was late and we couldn’t see, but it was pretty obvious a big limb fell on the roof.

The power came back on about 10 pm, but I was done. I repowered up my computer battery reset clocks and charged my phone and kindle and went to bed.

During the night, we lost power again – for 5 hours. Thankfully, I had my flannel sheets, my heavy blanket and my big quilt on the bed, along with my flannel jammies and TWO pairs of socks. I didn’t notice.

We lost power again at 8:00 AM – for about a minute. And mom and I went outside to see what had fallen on the roof.

We think the huge branch on the ground and the one in the bushes hit the roof as well, but were knocked off when the 3rd one – which is still on the roof, hit.

All of our trees have sustained damage – mostly the Red Maple and I fear we’ve lost it. My mom has wanted it to come down since we moved here, insisting it was DEAD, despite the fact it blooms every year. She’ll start pressing the landlady to take it down asap, I know my mom.

It was cold today – but warmed up just above freezing, so there was melting.

It’s supposed to get to 40 tomorrow and they say it will be very windy, so it will dry everything out tomorrow in time for Thursday…

when the HIGH will be 30.

I need to put on another pair of socks.

And yes, Dad went to the store and stocked up….

And it’s raining.

You know what that means????

I think I’m going to stay in and write. Or read…
