20 inches worth!
20 inches worth!
I became a mom. It was absolutely (and still is) the best day of my life.
He is here with me – we head to the family abode tomorrow – and I have enjoyed and appreciated his company these last few days. Empty nest sucks and I’m glad he was the level head I needed when the weekend got bad. Christmas can NOT come soon enough when he gets here permanently. He’s going to a local tech school for the next semester and is looking into transferring to a really nice 4 year college down the road by September. He should have a car by then and that will make it easier.
Obviously, I have cable now. Cable guy came out and tells me I took out the cable line, along with the telephone and when the house is fixed, they MIGHT have to come out and reattach.
He then goes into the attic and says – you’re already putting stuff in the attic?
There’s a BIG tree up here and a lot of other stuff…
Zee must now buy a LADDER and go into the attic and see what treasures I now own. Everything will have to come down and go into the garage where I can deal. If I don’t have to buy a tree, I won’t. That would be a godsend.
Claims adjuster came out – said damage is really minimal. No more than 800.00. Thing is, he’s not my insurance company’s claim adjuster. And my insurance company won’t honor someone else… has to be theirs. I’ll be contacting them AND the landlord over this.
My landlady is pretty okay, but her sister was a complete pill. I finally told her I was upset enough, I didn’t need help digging a hole. She let me know this was my fault and no they were not calling their home owner’s insurance (which is what their brother suggested.)
So this morning, I bit the bullet, called my car insurance carrier, blubbered and cried and they said – you’re covered for up to 30K, no deductible (and you know my premium WILL go up) here’s your claim number, give it and this phone number to your landlord and we’ll be out to assess the damage and fix it. Don’t worry.
Oh. Please tell us YOU aren’t driving the 26 foot truck coming in 2 weeks.
So it’s all better.
Here. Have some Richard.
a very bad weekend.
Really. Coughing up a lung. I see hot tea and hydromet in my very very very near future.
Like, the second I get home.
I’ve called for a sub. Of course, I won’t know if I get one until tomorrow morning. I’ll have to go in anyway to do sub plans.
Had a funny this morning. As most of you know, my hair now goes to my upper hip – below my waist. I was running late this morning so I was brushing it out and putting it up in a ponytail when I got to work. ONe of my students comes in – a 3rd grader and he says – I love your hair! I thanked him and then he adds…
Is it real?
As real as this man…
Taking ONE night in a cheap motel room.
The inflatable air mattress is excessively uncomfortable. I’m falling off all ends of it. There is a slow leak – last night, I woke up at 4 AM and as it’s a plug in, I reached over the edge and turned in on for about a minute to reinflate it back up, which woke me waaaaay up.
Getting the utilities turned over into my name is proving to be a pain. They want deposits – no problem, but they want me to show up in person. They all close at 4:30. I get off after 4. I missed the water company by 3 minutes, yesterday.
BOTH wrists are now killing me. I’m pretty sure the left wrist is due to the amount of knitting I’m doing right now (I’m trying to finish up a beanie for my brother) and the fact I have a death grip on my left needle.
the right wrist however got banged badly on Tuesday when two of my older students got in an altercation. I didn’t realize how bad it was until I got home and was changing into PJs. I have mirrored closet doors and it was shocking to see my right side as one continuous bruise.
I have the router and modem for my internet, but I’ve been too pooped to hook it up. Spawn is coming on Friday so perhaps he’ll do it over the weekend. We are getting a 10 foot truck this weekend to move boxes and 2 bookcases.
I Desperately need Guy Day. So have some Guy.
Okay, that’s not Guy, but that is still nice!
Armpitatage…not all can handle it. I can.
now, go get a mop and clean up after yourselves.
I desperately needed sleep last night.
Desperately. I transition to a very uncomfortable and narrow and short air mattress tonight and after three trips to the storage unit and clearing out this room, I was exhausted. I took Tylenol to ensure my slumber.
However, the people above me were stomping (making MY room shake) at midnight…. and at 3:14 AM… and at 5:02 and 5:44 and it hasn’t stopped since 6:02. I have half a mind to leave a profanity -laced sticky on their door.
I also packed all of the food and forgot to leave anything for this morning.
Edit: I found a package of powdered donuts. Joy.
However, tonight I will be in my house, and it will be okay.
There will be no bubble bath sadly. The latch on the drain does not work and the drain is dome shaped meaning I can’t stopper or put a flap over it.
We won’t talk about how I’ve also coughed a lung all night. I’m seriously considering going in and calling a sub for today. Really.
Very sad. And still tired.
Monday evening is a looooooooooong, HOT bubble bath with the salts and fizzy balls (which I found in one of my 3 trips down the storage unit today!), some chocolate and a coke to indulge in, the laptop on the commode and either
a) a music cd on OR
b) A movie. I’ve started Spooks. Absolutely brilliant. but I’m thinking something fluffy and pink and romantic and sweet.
And no. Unless your name is Richard Armitage, I do not want company.
Great Mahal! What is all of it?
A lot of junk, but mostly books and music and-
There is no way. Zee, you can’t move-
Do you know how you are about gold?
That’s how I am with music and books. That’s my Dragon-sickness. Music. Books. And yes, I have room.
Square footage, it’s 100 square feet bigger than the storage unit. But only boxes are going in and they’re coming out quickly.
It’s my hope to have the house set up in a reasonable, livable manner by the time I go home for Christmas. I’m praying to have everything sorted by Spring Break. (I think March. If it’s not, guess what we’re doing for spring break.)
I found Spawn’s lighthouse collection in the first trip down. He’s very happy.
Oh and we are definitely going to need a burn barrel and a compost heap.
This is supposed to be my happy place, my garden… but I’m going to step outside in the rain and pollution for just a moment.
I am appalled at what has happened across the ocean. Simply appalled. Horrified. Deeply saddened. Sorrow for those who were killed and for their families. Those that committed these horrible crimes are nothing but cowardly, scum of the earth.
I am equally appalled at certain pundits who have used this tragedy to take potshots at those they politically disagree with. You are no better than the cowards who ordered, planned, and instigated these attacks.
My most heartfelt prayers go out to the victims and their loved ones. May the authorities find and deal harshly with those who planned and carried out this atrocity.
I has a house.
All it’s missing is Richard.
