None of which I’ve bought… yet.

I’m jonesing for some retail therapy. I had one of those days in which I’m terrified to say, it can’t get worse because it will. A) I had a child bring a unwrapped lubed condom to class for show n tell and when he dropped it a little girl picked it up – EEEEW WHAT IS IT?

Not a balloon.

So while I’m trying to deal with that, another of one of my more challenging students tells me to Suck It, Bitch.

I didn’t go to college for this. I just can’t.

So, I’m LOOKING – and remember, Zulily sells out fast so most of what I was panting over is already gone.

Summer on the coast is Hell. A beautiful, glorious Hell. As in hotter than. Furnace. If you look carefully, you’ll see a couple of Hobbits run through carrying a ring and being chased by Gollum. It’s THAT hot.

So I”m not surprised to see these –

zu56573423_main_tm1523041069

I’m thinking that might be a tad busy soooo….

zu56255367_main_tm1521914035

Which is cute, and if you want more…

zu56255376_main_tm1521914035

But I’m rather drawn to this

zu70924976_main_tm1550866915

Might be the color. I have autumn orange but nothing like this.

On the other hand, sleeveless can be a problem on me. I have bat wings and sometimes the armhole is a bit much. I have a white bolero, which would be fine with the top three, but nothing … wait I have a black crochet shrug.

And then there is this…

zu55336667_main_tm1519235853

I love purple.

And there’s this.

zu70925021_main_tm1551128351

It comes in a wide variety of colors and prints

zu70924989_main_tm1551128351

And I’m absolutely over the moon about this

zu61998791_main_tm1546022276

Isn’t that pretty? But it’s a VERY popular pattern, because there are about 8 other tunics in that including this…

020519a

Which I”m wearing tomorrow and I don’t think the top one is made of the same crinkly crepe…

Remember every top up there is under 20.00 and I won’t be buying multiples of the same style and I’m not so sure about the sleeveless or the red…

Sigh.

I”m going to go ahead and do Zee Reads. My current book is huge and I”m only on Chapter 3. (There are almost 40 chapters)

First off, it LOOKS like I read a lot of books. I did, but they were for the most part novellas or short stories, so I got through them pretty fast.

02 burn district

This is a prequel to a longer series.  In short, a recent tsunami has stirred up some ancient bacteria that is laying waste to entire segments of the east coast of America. Rather than quarantine or move people west, when there’s a break-out, our government is simply nuking and firebombing entire towns. The little town this family is from has been ear-marked for the next burn. As they have a friend who is a First Responder, they’re given a heads up. They’ve prepared for this bug out…

02 Red Pyramid

Rick Riordan turns his great middle schooled geared mind to the Egyptian Gods. It’s a bumpy, sometimes unbelievable ride. One the kiddos should enjoy!

The Nameless Dwarf

This is NOT the cover of the original book when I obtained it. This was

nameless-dwarf-book-1-d-p-prior-9781500606398

This was, but this other one is part of the series and is the prequel. I think this author has read a LOT of Tolkien. Dwarves, men, Orcs, Elves… this particular installment is yet again – a prequel. This particular dwarf has a problem. He picked up a magical helmet and went berserk, slaughtering the majority of his clan. They’ve gone on the run, into literally no-man’s land to escape him. When he removes the helmet, his memories of slaughtering his people is quite vivid. But he can’t remember his name… so he’s following the survivors of the very clan he decimated, just to find out what his name is.

Oh, and the boy likes to fight!

02 Frostborn

Again, another prequel novella. Alternative universe, a dark wizard, holed up in an abandoned castle and a lone, young knight off on a quest to prove himself. While he wins the day and the girl he loves, he accidentally unleashes an evil so evil…

I’ve read several of his books in other series before. His imagination is extensive and his writing has improved, but this one is another trip through someone else’s eyes of Tolkien.

Wings of a Butterfly

I was disappointed with this. Supposedly a shifter. I hear talk of everyone’s inner wolf, but you never see it. The sex is mundane and there are too many holes, as if the author was in a hurry to set a speed record. He kept thinking about his ‘dirty’ blood and his father who was considered a ‘monster’ – and they never tell you what. Unimpressed.

02 Resumes that work

I’m job hunting, obviously. Might need to spruce up my resume.

02 strangled prose

Last year, I was highly enamored with Joan’s Arly Hanks mysteries, although by the end, I was irritated with Arly and all the Buchanan’s. I started this one last year between books as it was on my old kindle for quite sometime and I’ll probably do a run on them next year if I manage to finish this challenge this year. Claire owns a little bookstore in a college town. She is divorced, with an angsty pre-teen daughter. The town boasts of one famous romance author who decides to launch her next book – in Claire’s bookstore. The feminists revolt and picket, all the professors see themselves in between the lurid pages and said author ends up dead. A snarky, interesting who-dun-it.

Dead Flies

An accidental read. On occasion, when I”m opening up a book to see where to file it on my PC kindle (with its 143 folders) I realize it’s so short, I might as well finish it. This was a 10 minute, very thought-provoking, melancholy read. A father, celebrating his son’s 31st birthday at his home… even though the son has been missing for 10 years and has been declared dead by the authorities. His wife won’t join him and as he eats birthday cake in the kitchen, he notices the number of dead flies on the kitchen window sill. I had to go out and get a milk shake after this one.

I love a book where it’s obvious the author spent a LOT of time on the cover. (snark)

I have gone 21 days without shopping, and I’m telling you, I’m really struggling right now! Zulily has some beautiful spring clothes.

We are also down to 52 days left of school. 12 days until spring break. My blood sugar is way high, although lower today. I’ve dealt with a queasy stomach for two days and one of my kids brought a condom to class today for show and tell. It was lubed.

And fights. Fights today. Lots. And this was before 10AM. Retail therapy is looking good.

Here. Have some Richard.

So for some odd reason, when my laptop updated (unbeknownst to me) it screwed of life and the universe as we know it, and I”ve been 90 minutes just trying to get on. We are at Starbucks – FOR REASONS – and it’s only allowing me one browser open.

See I really prefer CHrome, but some things will only work in Firefox. I keep both open. After 4 reboots, I finally realized I can have one or the other. I’m unhappy.

I also had a rough start to my day. All I’ll say is I have NEVER been talked down too or treated so disrespectfully by a 9 year in my life. And not just ONE 9 year old, about 5 of them. Apparently they purposely misunderstood their teacher’s instruction (don’t talk and do what she says) and told me they were to stare at me like Zombies and do nothing. They also informed me that even if I gave them a zero, and it IS my class, their HOMEROOM TEACHER told them to do this, so that’s what they’re going to do.

There was a chat when she picked them up and tomorrow will not be pretty for them.

ANYWAY! I have a crazy week this week, between several rehearsals and 2 concerts, I’ve not had time to hunt up hunnies, so we’ll dig into my arsenal and ManCandy our favorite ManCandy! Shall we begin???

Weekend Shenanigans

Weekends are typically dull, dreary, but lovely things I look forward to. No school, no kids, no Cra-Cra crappola. Might do some writing. Will do some reading. I promise myself every Friday, I’m going to clean house. I’m going to! But it never happens. Spawn and I are boring people, with boring lives, just enjoying the solitude.

And then my cousin pings me Friday night and says he and the wife and 2 kids are thinking of coming to Savannah for 2 days and can they crash on my floor? I don’t tell them I have to clean up said floor, but I was up late and up early cleaning house that needed to be clean. I am a happy camper.  I have a clean house, company I love almost as much as my parents and siblings and a good time was had by all.

Guy Day!

22 Friday Feb 2019

My 5th grade girls are envious. They like my bling and they like my bell sleeves.

It’s been a day and I’m glad it’s Friday and it’s over. I have a headache. Bad. I wrote up a fight but my last class was enjoying a Fun Friday Activity so they didn’t come.  it’s been quiet here for the last hour and a half.

I ALMOST bought today. Pretty little lace socks. Something I could wear with an open shoe. Sadly, they were sold out by the time I hit my basket. Oh well. I didn’t need them anyway.

And the spring tunics are out. Lord, lord, lord!!!! Help me!

My crock pot black eyed peas were a hit! There are hardly any left. I’m glad! I’ve never made them before!!!

How about some Guy???

In preparation for Guy Day…

tumblr_mmg5obcy1s1qjhdt7o3_250

And now…

54 days left.

13 days without shopping…

I got stuff in –

BLING IS GORGEOUS! Am very happy and the bracelet fit just fine!

020519e020519d

These two pieces actually match rather well!

020519c

This goes beautifully with my silver hammered bracelet!

And both are VERY long! Hang between the breasts and the navel!

This is gorgeous!!!

020519a

Wonderful spring!! Sadly this…

020519b

I’m so disgusted. The thing is HEAVY FLANNEL!!! VERY heavy winter fuzzy flannel. Cold cold cold weather. And it’s a 16, no way it’s a 3X! So it’s way tight and uncomfy. I’ve contacted Baby Sis who is shorter than me and a size smaller. If she likes it, it’s hers!

I have one more thing. I’m NOT buying anything for a while. Can’t and won’t. Fundage is tight tight tight and will continue to be.

Happy Wednesday!

56 days left.

I am a shopaholic and I have not bought any clothes or  bling or shoes online in 12 days. I received my Roaman’s Spring Catalog yesterday and there is NOTHING in it I’m dying to have. That MIGHT change in a month or two, but right now, I’m just… no. no shoes, although there are some cute shoes, I really need bras. But no. I’m not even looking at Zulily or anyone else. No. No. No. No.

12 Days. Let’s talk again at 30.

Here. Have some Richard!!!!

ROADTRIP!

18 Monday Feb 2019

Posted by zeesmuse in Uncategorized

okay, not really.

Charleston is about 100 miles from our driveway. We went summer of 2017 and visited a beautiful garden, the beach, enjoyed a lovely time. Charleston is a jewel of a city, part of a lovely Southern chain of olde, antebellum towns on the Southern Coast of this country, I love so much. You might not like our president, but I like him better than the person who ran against him.

EITHER WAY! While in Charleston in 2017, we discovered the City Market, which is an open air (okay, not, it’s now enclosed and air conditioned) market that runs about half a mile down the middle of the street. Hand crafted items, homemade food, spices, basket weaving right there in front of your eyes!!!

And HOT SAUCE!!!

IMG_4411

Rows and Rows of hot sauce and locally made jelly and jam and BBQ sauce.

Spawn wants to try the hot sauce labeled ‘Help me Jesus.’ I want to try ‘Wet Farts’.

We took the drive this Saturday mainly to purchase some pretzel dip you can’t find anywhere else. It’s awesome, but they’re gone and I can’t remember the name. I looked them up after we were there 2 years ago, but they weren’t on the internet and didn’t have a web page. Oh well.

Someone had a Cajun Bible. Next time we’re that way, I hope I can find it again.

There was beautiful jewelry, wonderful art galleries all around. Hyman’s Seafood restaurant had a LINE at 3 o’clock.

IMG_4415

It went all the way to the corner.

I love the boats. I love love love boats. I love harbors.

IMG_4400IMG_4399

I’m looking to retire in 12 years probably. Actually, I’m going to try to make it to 65 and then year by year it. 12 years is 25 years. I’ll be close to 70. If I can swing it earlier, I will and I’m looking at Charleston to park my carcass for the final time. There or Tybee.

I love the antebellum homes… that I can’t afford…

IMG_4421 (1)IMG_4410IMG_4409 (1)IMG_4402

Actually, the yellow one is the Daughters of the Confederacy museum and the entrance to the City Market beneath.

I love the parks in the city.

IMG_4404

Brunswick had parks like this. So does Savannah. Savannah has city squares. Forrest Gump was shot in Savannah and the park bench Forrest sat on and talked about his life story has a little plaque.

Like Savannah, the best way to see historical Charleston is in a horse drawn carriage, pulled by some of the biggest horses I”ve ever seen.

IMG_4414 (1)

Charleston has this lovely van… Booze Pops!

IMG_4417

They were doing a brisk business!!!

The drive to Charleston is largely marshland. It’s Coastal, the Low Country. If Tolkien’s Rohan was in the United States, it would be in the Ace Basin in Charleston’s Low Country.

IMG_4429IMG_4398IMG_4393

If you’re paying attention, you’ll see the old road and train bridges I’d probably be scared to walk on. Spawn said we need to take another trip if he’s up to it during spring break and just be prepared to stop and take pictures. Trying to get these while doing 60 miles per hour was kinda difficult. And my camera has a better zoom lens.

It has been a warm winter here. While the northern reaches of the States has been under frigid polar vortexes and California has had rain galore, we’ve have temps mostly in the 60’s and 70’s. It seems to alternate here. One year, warm and tepid with a 24 – 36 hour cold snap every 10 to 14 days; the next year, 6 weeks if cold. Bugs will be Bitches this summer. Tomorrow will be a cold day and I”ll get to wear this lovely sweater I’ve just gotten in.

aa

Tomorrow’s high – 54. Thursday’s high… 80. I’m shocked I’ve not been sick this year, weather like this! The Dogwood Trees and azaleas think it’s spring and are blooming. The Dogwoods normally bloom at Easter. Easter will be late this year – end of April, but February is too early for them.

You know, my family lives in NE Georgia. I have a brother in NW Georgia, up in the mountains. It’s quiet and peaceful and I miss them muches.

But this… this is home. Savannah… Charleston… Brunswick. The Southern Coast. The Low Country. This is home. This is what home looks like. It’s hotter than hell in the summer, but there is something laid back about the Low Country, something special, that can’t be found anywhere else. The food is exquisite. A low country boil, sweet tea, and a friendliness that can’t be matched anywhere. Savannah was a city so beautiful, that when General Sherman reached it after burning all of Georgia, he stopped and wrote President Abraham Lincoln – it’s a beautiful jewel. A gift.

And Charleston is an equal jewel in the South’s crown. The only thing missing, is this beautiful yahoo…

tumblr_inline_miw7wnWtRw1qz4rgp

That’s all.
