First things first…
Five more days five more days five more days!
Everything I ordered has shipped. I should have everything Thursday or Friday! YAY!
As I was worried about the pants, I went to the little clothing shop – a CATO’s – across the street from my subdivision. My current jeans are falling off me. Baggy. And I bought these in late July and they were snug then. So I made a beeline for the clearance rack.
OMG! I have dropped TWO Dress sizes (or four numbers if you’re counting singles!) I’m sooooo stoked!!! I bought faux leather pants. They were on sale for $2.99 – how disgusting is that??? I found heels that are comfortable. At least the 5 minutes I had them on, they were comfortable. So we’ll see…
I’m sooooo happy!
And now, it is time for Beefcake Sunday.
Ahem.
.
My work here is done. Please don’t be alarmed if I’m silent this week. I have a lot to do. The main part of the house is looking good, my cave and my bedroom aren’t. But that’s okay. I’m testing my little ones this week and that is a stressful time for everyone. Music. I am TESTING in music, how stupid is that? They’ve not done anything FUN in months! We’re going to sing our little hearts out next week. Silly songs. Lots of silly songs! The Crocodile Song. 5 Little Speckled Frogs! Little Bunny Foo Foo. I’m being eaten by a Boa Constrictor. We’re going to dance the High Low Dance, do the Grapevine, sing I feel Good! I’m having a pedicure done, taking a group to a concert, hanging pictures…
Going to a festival with someone I loved very much and I expect that same magic to happen again.
Testing in music? They won’t be promoted if they can’t read the lines on a treble clef? Ridiculous.
They’re not being tested to see what they know. They’re being tested to see how effective a teacher I am. They’re doing this in ALL the arts, PE. The Art teacher is having the same problem. her 2 grade levels aren’t playing in paint or clay. They’re learning ‘theory’. They don’t care. Neither do mine. I do rhythm training with rhythm instruments, to try to make some of it fun. When we were learning brass instrument family, I taught it via the mouth piece and we all made brass instrument mouth pieces with our hands and did rhythm raps via our hand/duck calls. I’ll take this rhythm training into next year and be able to start them on recorders earlier. I see me eating tylenol.
But they’ll compare these test scores with the August test scores and it is 50% of my evaluation. Sucks. They’re trying to make an art into an academic.
Congratulations on dropping the weight – and the dress sizes. It’s such a great feeling when clothes shopping becomes fun again, isn’t it?
And hopefully your little ones will test fine – sounds a bit mean to put them through a test just to check the teachers’ effectiveness. But well, that’s the way schools work.
Hope you enjoy the week. It will pass quickly, what with the big date looming 🙂
I am hoping the excitement of Friday will make the week move faster!
My littlest ones will rock the test. I’m sure of that. My older little ones, nope. Not feeling good about them at all! It’s not that they’re not smart, it’s they won’t settle down.
The weight loss feels good. Seeing it in the clothes size is wonderful. I shopped at Cato alot when I was further south and I think I’m going to start shopping there again, with prices not bad at all and being so close. Beats worrying over the Will It Ship in Time dilemma I had this past week. Now I’m having – will it arrive in time dilemma..
