2 friends bought Thorin for me and one came USPS and the other came Fed Ex within 45 minutes of each other! So I had to differentiate. Thorin likes to dance on the externals, he moves all over so he stays next to my bed. Thorout hangs with Tauriel (the slut) on one of the bookcases in the family room!

Canon whores can be the harshest critics around. They are horrible in the Harry Potter and LOTR fandoms. God help you if you create an OC or worse, drop a modern day woman into Middle Earth. I’ve done both. I’m hated in many places. Same with Harry Potter – there are enough characters, don’t create one. Oh and don’t have any of them doing things that don’t ‘look right’. No one in Middle Earth will say – What the hell is going on? They wouldn’t. Fan girls hated it when a) Jo matched Hermoine with Ron because they felt she belonged with Snape (wha???) and b) She killed Snape so she destroyed their ship. THey honestly believe in the end, Hermoine would waltz off with Snape and were furious when she didn’t. There are thousands of abandoned fanfictions that have been abandoned and just as many pulled off the net because Snape/Granger didn’t happen.

Face it Richard does so many male only movies it is no wonder a female elf was brought in and if it improves the story why not? It is good to read about Thorin and Guy with women they love. I think I write an OFC for every fanfic I’ve ever written. The few standard canon couples are already fleshed out and boring to write.
I take that back! I’ve written TWO Eomer/Lothiriel fics. And we know NOTHING about them – just a couple of years after the War of the One Ring, Eomer, King of Rohan, married Lothiriel, the only daughter of Prince Imrahil and they had 5 children, the eldest which was male, had a name and looked like Lothiriel’s father – who was dark haired and had elven blood. (Imrahil’s sister was married to Denathor and was Boromir and Faramir’s mother. ) So Eomer and Eowyn married cousins.
