If you don’t want to read, don’t go past the line. Have some Richard for your trouble.
Today was my very last day. Rather than have everything done as I planned by noon, I was kept side-tracked by grading issues. I packed, loaded the car, Spawn drove it home, unloaded it came back where I had packed more and loaded and in the meantime while he was driving home, I was fighting with grades. Grades I had COMPLETED 2 weeks ago, so I wouldn’t go through this and I have last minutes ‘out of sync’ grades where I get to research and fix them. Needless to say, they weren’t a priority.
I”m waiting to see when they realize that I didn’t sign off on my last observation… ain’t going down to do it and not checking my mail ANYMORE!!!!
*to the tune of ‘Hit the Road, Jack*
I ain’t signin’ it, Ain’t goin’ back, no more, no more, no more, no more
Ain’t goin’ back, ain’t even checkin’ mail no more!
What you say?
When it was over, neither one of my administrators came down once to wish me luck on my new adventure, thanks for you hard work, not gonna miss you, don’t let the door hit you on the way out… in fact by the time I got my room done and my 3 page checklist signed, they were gone. GONE!
And not a word. My area coordinator couldn’t even be assed to drop me a note or say anything to me when he was down last Friday – that would be the day after I gave them a heads up that there was a 99% chance I was high-tailing it out!
It hurts. 4 years and not even, thank you. Good luck.
There was a survey and the first question was – Did the admin make you feel like a valued member of the team and that you were an effective teacher?
I left a LOT of stuff. In fact I realized when I got home there was an entire 2 filing cabinet drawers I forgot to go through. Oh well. It’s their’s now.
I”m spending the rest of the week at mom’s and will return home on Monday. I have ugly dental work Tuesday and Wednesday will start cleaning house. I’m going to clean the main pathways of the carpet – oh and bomb for fleas – I’ve been here over 3 years and NEVER had a flea problem until the last 2 weeks! – and then I have the pleasure of cleaning out my garage. That shit ain’t comin’ with me either!
As I was coming in the last time – and enjoying the view of the Spanish Moss and the historical section of town, I realized the chair behind my desk was mine… We had to put it in the trunk, with the bottom hanging out and bungee’d up.
A lot of the staff came by – the cafeteria staff came to my room and hugged me and told me they would wait for me in the morning JUST to see what I was wearing. Apparently, it was a big secret I wasn’t coming back. They’ve hired a lot of new teachers, many of them fresh out of college and from other states.
Whoa boy. Are they in for a surprise. I thought a lot of teachers from the school that’s coming to my old school would come, but nope. I think 3 or 4 came.
I’m tired and I have a lot on my plate, but the next few days, I’m gonna veg. Just veg.
Here. You read all this. Have some MORE Richard!
I’ll be back around eventually.
