We are watching Florence.
She went to a high powered hurricane mode last week and then hit wind shear which sucked the life out of her. This morning, she reached Cat 1 status and thanks to really warm water and no wind shear – is going to ramp up really fast again. Both Carolinas have already declared states of emergencies.
Needless to say –
Suffice to say, unless the old girl takes a sudden turn north, I have a feeling we’re going to be off a few days and I won’t get a full week off for Thanksgiving for the 3rd year in a row. I don’t get how the coast of Georgia has been quiet as hell since 1880-something and then I move here and it’s every year we get smacked or side-swiped! Ah well.
This morning, I watched a movie I’ve not watched in years – decades, to be honest. The Breakfast Club. Back in the day, I perved pretty bad on Judd Nelson. Yeah, even then, I had a thing for bad boys. Explains my Guy-lurve.
Yeah, I know. He doesn’t LOOK like this anymore. Do any of us look as good as we did in our early 20’s?
He doesn’t count.
There is a line in the movie that hit me hard. Kids didn’t change; you did.
Food for thought, obviously.
I have the itchy need to BUY something – I have a 20.00 gift certificate that expires on 10/09. And I have my budget, so add those 2 together plus whatever sale. I need shoes. I need a pair of black dress heels.
In black, of course
I just like those.
They always have great sales. My favorite is ‘Spend $100.00, get $50.00 off’ Sale. Or the 40% off one and 40% off the 2 highest when you buy 3 Sale.
I dunno, do you think it looks too much like this one, which I already have?
Nah. Obviously not.
Really, I DO need the dress shoes. My brother is getting marries in October and I’ve pretty much decided to wear the red dress I bought over the summer.
So black dress shoes, at least.
*sigh*
Yesterday, instafreebie started up a bunch of freebie downloads. I downloaded 382 books. Do you know they get a tad irate if you download a dozen really fast? Actually, me and their captcha app became really good friends. What should have taken 90 minutes took 4 hours. I mean, c’mon, you offer free books and then get put out because people take you up on it.
Ah well. I need to clean house. We might get hit by a hurricane so I want a clean house in case a tree hits us and it will be clean.
God! I sound like my mother!!!

Oh, that looks scary. Stay safe!
Oh, and Breakfast Club is one of my favourite films, too. I watched it with my son last year, and it has aged surprisingly well, I think. Those themes are just timeless.

You know, I went to school with every one of those kids – except the one play by Judd Nelson wasn’t as hot as Judd Nelson!
Michele Marsh said:
Yes he was by far the best character and actor in that movie! It was a shame besides St Elmo’s Fire he then starred in some tanker movies. I loved Simple Minds too! My sis and I saw them in concert right after Breakfast Club came out!
Guylty said:
Yep, they are all familiar types.
Helen said:
Fingers crossed you don’t get it bad 😳 Stay safe! 😘

We’ll keep a close eye on it. Our school system tends to close things down fast when it comes to hurricanes, so I’ll be out of here in good time. I won’t get caught in traffic.

Get the tunic and red shoes or taupe shoes, black only if you are accessorising in black. My humble opinion !!!!
zeesmuse said:
I’m getting the black shoes because a) I need black dress heels and b) I am accessorizing in black. The wedding is mid-October, so it will be getting a tad cooler up in Atlanta. I have a black loose-crocheted shrug and black earrings and necklace. I think I’m going to get THAT tunic as well as the leopard mules with the black bow. I have several outfits I can wear them with!
Michele Marsh said:
The tunic w the purple is wonderful! Mules w leopard print are super cute! Great choices!!
zeesmuse said:
I love the tunic! I have discovered the Wish list…. I’m so bad!
Michele Marsh said:
I’m all about the wish list esp on Amazon
My virtual shopping therapy so to speak
But tonight I have been perusing EBay which I signed
up to partake in the Auction and discovered a whole new world of stuff.😛
zeesmuse said:
oooooooooooooooh! I’ve not done a bidding on Ebay in years!
Michele Marsh said:
I have to say I’m not an addictive person although
I am a clothes a holic and shoe aholic so maybe I am
but the bidding on stuff is exciting! The Auction got me
revved up and now just perusing certain brands and what is being bidded on, I’m engaged … more like engrossed!
Michele Marsh said:
I’ll be curious what your Tim Gunn 3rd grader thinks
of your selections!!

Love the leopard!!!

I think they are too cute and I have several outfits I can wear them with. Always a plus!

In honor of your great graphics and bec my neighborhood watch blog posted tips and warnings about the hurricane brewing in the Atlantic, I watched Into The Storm again which I really liked more on the second go around then the first. I think first time I was too busy goo goo eyeing Richard as Gary. It is a great film and I can see why he decided to do the film and not for the visuals of being in a storm. But his hair remained perfectly coiffed during the whole movie. Maybe a little cowlick at the end but other than that fantastically kept. What a man!!!

Where are you in conjunction w Florence? I’m farther north and supposed to make landfall on Thursday in NC
I think Hatteras right? My best friend just text me if I’m
moving to higher ground but I don’t live near the beach
but I told her I’d better go to the grocery store tomorrow
just in case..,
SueBC said:
Take care of yourself. Are you in NC, then?
Michele Marsh said:
No I’m in Washington DC Northern VA so I
thought I’m pretty scotsfree of Florence but
my bestie texted last night are ya moving to
higher ground? I was like why???
zeesmuse said:
I’m on the coast of Georgia – close to Savannah. We’ll probably just get some rain.
SueBC said:
Sounds like it is gaining strength. Maybe you need extra tunics to keep you warm…. Don’t know about black dress shoes, but maybe some cute boots? Hope you keep safe.

Reading about the whole hurricane situation, I don’t know how you cope with even the possibility of them! We get all upset when the sun shines 7 days in a row!
Stay safe ladies xxxxxxxxxxxx
Michele Marsh said:
Yeah on the coast I think people adapt to the hurricane possibilty. My family used to live in Kansas which is or should be part of “tornado alley” where tornadoes are more prevalent ala Into The Storm. I was maybe 9 or 10
when my dad was stationed in Kansas and the sky would get so black (like Black Sky😉) just scared us kids and my mom so much. We hated living there bec the watches seemed like every other day.

We lived in Oklahoma for 5 years. Our house had a storm cellar and I remember spending a bit of time in it on more than one occasion.
Our house had a big picture window across the back and there was a HUGE open field behind us. Right after we moved there, I was watching the storm rolling in and I told my mom – are clouds supposed to have tails? This thing had 4 or 5 tails dropping up and down. We hit the cellar so fast!
Michele Marsh said:
OMg! We had French doors opening to a backyard and
my dad would sit watching tv eating Blue Bell ice cream when these huge black clouds would appear and my mom, sis, brother and I would be in the hall closet under the stairs huddled together my mom cursing in German to my dad she hated Kansas and when were going to move. We then ended up in Chicago which she loved! My dad grew up in Texas so I think he loved storms and any sort of tornado activity 🤯🤔

Georgia hasn’t taken a direct hit since the 1880’s. Now, all of a sudden, we’re getting side-swipped every year!

I’ve been watching the updates on Florence – yep, they’ve been on the nightly news down under here. Scary stuff. Stay safe Zee. It’s reassuring to know that if comes to evacuating, you won’t get caught out.
Cute mules! I’ve been buying on my favourite online store – they keep throwing a 30% flash sale at me, or spend $150, save $50 (not as good as the deals you mention!) and all the new season’s spring and summer clothes are appearing 😁
zeesmuse said:
We have the new fall clothes coming out, but dang it’s still HOT!!!
Michele Marsh said:
Well something to look forward too! I love sweaters and boots and jackets so Fall gets me revved up!! The red dress is super cute! Does your brother live in GA too? Fall weddings are the best!!
