My son’s camera takes MUCH better pictures than my Kindle Fire. Obviously.
Shrimp and crab trawlers
Turtle. Told ya!

Looking dooooooooooooooooooooown….
9 flights of steps. 8 flights of 19 steps, one flight of 15. Not that I was counting or anything.
Somehow, I’m thinking it was hurt… I put it back in the water when the wave went out.
That first flight down is scary! Even with the central column (that isn’t there anywhere else lower.)
Gator!
the sand dollar is amazing, i would have thought it was some kind of plant if i’d seen one š
The lighthouse is nicely maintained and painted, good to see people take care of such buildings š I don’t find the stairs between walls so bad, the ones with the empty space in the middle are worse š
so not looking at that gator…
The sand dollar gets lost in the sand – they’re the same color, so you have to be looking for it. This one was sitting with a bunch of shells that had come in on the tide and I fear it had been stepped on. It was blowing bubbles, so I knew it was alive. I put it on an out going wave and I hope it went out far enough not to come back up. The water was REALLY cold so there were no swimmers.
The lighthouse was built to move easily. The island has a history of severe erosion problems and it’s been moved once. Unlike Hatteras, where they put it on a large dolly and moved it a few feet a day, this one is put together with large cylinders, that can be taken apart, moved and put back together. It’s withstood one earthquake and several hurricanes.
The top stairs are narrow and VERY close together. It’s easier to sit down and slide, tbc. I’m no longer so adventurous!
Lovely pics! Ah ha, so that’s what a sand dollar looks like… š
Yep. That’s a sand dollar in it’s natural state.
Spawn takes beautiful pictures!
You’re really making me miss the East Coast beaches! Looks so wonderful.
I have missed the coast! Much! And this place isn’t much further away than Tybee Island Beach – even tho, tbh, this beach is easier to walk on than Tybee Island Beach. To fight erosion, the powers that be at Tybee dredge up the ocean floor and dump it on the beach. It’s not packed so it’s really soft and hard to walk on.
Good for your calf muscles…lol.
I can’t walk in it! LOL!
