Nasty ugly rant. Please skip. (Concerns The Crucible. No really please skip!)
And yes I know I’m being completely and utterly childish.
Just when I think I’m over it, apparently they are showing The Crucible in the theater AGAIN, like people didn’t get a chance at all to see it in London for how many months and then got to see it in the theater, unlike those of us who were excluded in North America like all of us get free passes and plane fare and hotel fare to see the play that really doesn’t have anyone in it I’m interested in in NYC.
Me bitter? Nah.
I’m not so much pissed that they got another screening, but did you read Hari’s account? Apparently the Miller family had a special screening. THAT pisses me off, that they saw it, evidently liked it, but still wouldn’t negotiate.
Yes I did read her account and believe me, I am happy that others got to see it.
However the fact that we were sooooo excluded, continue to be excluded, and the reason we were excluded was extremely weak. The only person that gives a flying prick is Richard and I’m sure right now The Crucible is the furthest from his mind.
I’ve made myself a promise I will NEVER purchase anything or read or watch The Crucible in any way shape or form. I don’t think that sort of BS should be rewarded with my money.
They’re obviously sooooo much more wealthier than I – they don’t need my patronage anyway.
Yeah, I can so imagine your frustration! Why does legal bullshit always have to spoil the free flow of information and entertainment?
I think the mindset was the filmed version would compete with the NYC Theater version. Which is total BS. I couldn’t see the NYC version if I wanted to.
And I don’t want to. And now I don’t want to see ANY version of it. Ever.
Something similar: over here in the Netherlands we can watch BBC on our cable, we friggin’ pay for it! The BBC has all these extra services and information for BBC viewers under the “Red button”, which you can watch on TV. But are these services available for PAYING BBC viewers overseas? Nope! Irks me to no end!
I don’t have cable. I don’t watch television. It’s cheaper over here to Netflix… or some other… venue.
Evil grin.
Here in the Netherlands, all TV is on cable, there is hardly anything to watch here for free anyhow. We only have 3 public channels that are free and several more popular commercial ones, you get them in the cheapest most basic package. We have a package just one step up that allows us all BBC channels, because basically, Dutch TV mostly sucks and we really do like watching the BBC. Netflix is gaining popularity here as well… there seems to be more flexibility there and that I like! Still doesn’t give me BBC red button availability, though… 😦
It’s the same here. We have 3… well really FOUR basic channels – NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS. It’s complete crap anymore, so we have cable.
I don’t ‘do’ cable. There are too many alternatives here – again NetFlix, Hulu, etc. I don’t really watch television, so I’m not missing not paying a cable bill.
