I was informed today by His Majesty that he knows his twin has a girlfriend. He then informed me he doesn’t need one because he has me.

Which made me wibble.

(Actually, one of my little ones points to the two POP!figures on my shelf and says – the one, that’s your future husband (that would be correct) and the other one, that’s you.

I’m not an elf, but thank you.

Oh, btw, please keep me in your positive thoughts, This month will be excruciating, between a big observation, progress reports, THE MOVE, Thanksgiving, Spawn’s bday… and then today I was pretty much ordered to do something by the powers that be, that sticks in my craw for many reasons.

I take that back. It doesn’t stick in my craw, it’s just… I don’t think it’s my place to do this (not beneath me or not part of my job description, it’s just… uncomfortable for me to have them put me in this position. I’m supposed to be the low man on the totem pole, NOT head of the department.)

But it’s Friday, it’s payday, I have a LOT of things to do. I’m probably going to head down to the storage unit and start bringing up boxes. Wondering if I can put them in the garage at the house, since it seems to be unlocked…

ANYWAY!

It is that time of the month – no, it’s not my period! – for Zee Reads.

And it has been an abysmal month for reading.

Probably because I did some writing and I’ve been insane fighting with the new Sir Guy and the fact he doesn’t want to deal with my PC Kindle properly!

Ahem.

I only read 4 books this month. Granted one was HUGE, but….

I bring the fire part 1

I started this at the beginning of the year and kept getting side-tracked. Note, this is the FIRST installment of the a 5 part series and while it’s cute and well-written, something about the tense sets me off.  There are 4 more parts after this, I have 2 of them. I started this because part 2 had a blue cover and that was one of the challenges, but I’ve read a book with a blue cover, so I’m content to wait.

Note: Loki and Thor in this book are NOT patterned after Tom Hiddlesex or whoever the hunk is that plays Thor.

My Perfect mistress

A thoroughly enjoyable PWP. I’ve long complained about books that claimed the heroine was a BBW – and they are always submissive and snatched up by shifter, vampire, dominant Billionaires.  Or is part of a multi-partner family. And the female actually is only 10 pounds over-weight supposedly and scrawny on the cover.

bbw 8

There is an ounce of fat on her and she’s supposed to be a BBW!!!! Makes me very self-conscious and bothers my serious self-esteem problem. (The problem is I have none)

meh

Even Sir Guy thinks it’s bat-shit and isn’t buying it.

ANYWAY – finally we have a cover with a curvy, okay over-weight, truly Rubenesque female. And the author (who I know) doesn’t make that big a deal of it. She has curves. She has cellulite, I suspect and her cups runneth over.

And the sex is awesome. Sometimes, the fantasy made me squirm. I’m submissive and I prefer the dominant partner to be a Dom, not a Domme.  But it was a one-shot, with the promise of maybe more someday… I’d like to see this relationship bud.

Also, he’s younger.

Speaking of younger…

Veil of Lies

The first REAL installment of the Crispin Guest series. Apparently the one I read last month was a prequel that was written after the fact. (Much like Come the Spring was the Prequel to the Wheel of Time series that was written 20 years after the initial book was written.)

Sir Guy would have a problem and serious competition if Sir Crispin Guest were OLDER. As it stands, he’s 26 or 27 and that’s a bit young for my blood, even for a fictitious character. But he is nice to think about.

I’m enjoying this series. I’ve started on the 2nd book.

The 4th and last book I’ve read this month…

war and peace

Dear Mahal in Valanor, what a soap opera.

Okay, I’ll be honest. after having to click through the first 7% of the book on my kindle to get through the forward and the thanks and the copious essays of all the translators and editors and famous people I”ve never heard of who had to introduce the book and what not, I get TO the meat and about half way in, became completely bogged down in the story line and who did what to whom and who thought this and who that is… an I just skimmed to the end

I have 3 books left in my list and I think I can handle them. Maybe. A book my mom likes – that’s easy.  A book that came out the year I was born.  I think I pulled down Catch 22. OH WAIT !!!! Go! Dog Go! is in that list. That was my son’s favorite book and I believe I did that one for the RA read thing… ooooooh.  A couple of James Bonds or Agatha Christie’s… Georgette Heyer – A Civil Contract… Jean Plaidy’s – Katharine, the Virgin Widow. Hmmmmm…  the other one is a book that takes place in my home town. I am NOT in the mood to read Gone with the Wind, however, seeing how I’ve moved to the coast, I wonder if I change the venue…
